Sunflowers are very cooperative. They always face the sun, so getting a backlit shot is rather easy. I captured this image in Crested Butte, Colorado, where sunflowers seem to be everywhere.

This video is from Rifle Falls State Park outside of Rifle, Colorado. This triple waterfall is the main attraction and it is a very easy, short walk from the parking area.
For some reason, the first couple seconds of the video may appear severely garbled. I’m not sure why but it clears up.

This plant, here about three feet high, only blooms once in its lifetime, which can be about 60 years. It can grow up to nine feet tall and is found at higher elevations. What amazed me was that it actually was in bloom when I took this picture. It is also called Green Gentian.

The Glacier Lily is only found in high elevations. I discovered this one at about 11,500 feet on the hike I took with a friend from Irwin Lake, which is just outside of Crested Butte, Colorado.

This video is from a hike I took with a friend of mine last week near Crested Butte, Colorado. It is high in the mountains and an excellent place to find wildflowers such as the Glacier Lily that are not found at lower elevations. Once I process the images I’ll post some of the flowers we found on that hike. This video shows the fantastic beauty of that area of Colorado.

I have been experimenting with creating time-lapse video and this one was captured in Crested Butte, Colorado. I found a nice spot on Slate River Road. The video represents about a two hour time span.
